2 Who Are Edgard & Cooper? A Brand with a Bigger Mission

Edgard & Cooper isn’t just another pet food brand. Their mission is to become the world’s most sustainable pet food company—and they’re taking real action to make it happen. From using fresh, natural ingredients to committing to zero-waste packaging and charitable giving, they’re setting a new standard in the pet food industry.

🌍 Sustainability & The Zero Pawprint Plan

Unlike many pet food companies, Edgard & Cooper is a B-Corp-certified brand, meaning they meet the highest standards for social and environmental responsibility. Their Zero Pawprint Plan is a bold commitment to reduce their environmental impact and become 100% sustainable. You can find their Impact Report here.

Here’s how they’re doing it:
♻️ Eco-Friendly Packaging – Their tins and cups are made from metal, one of the most easily recyclable materials. In fact, 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use today!
📢 Transparency – They openly share their sustainability goals, progress, and where they still need to improve.
🌱 Ethical Sourcing – They prioritise responsibly sourced ingredients with minimal processing and no artificial additives.

Giving Back: The Edgard & Cooper Foundation

Edgard & Cooper isn’t just about making great dog food—they’re also changing lives for animals in need.

❤️ A Commitment to Giving: Instead of donating just a portion of profits, they pledge 1% of all sales to animal welfare charities. So far, they’ve pledged over €3.3 million to help dogs and cats in need.

❤️ Their Own Charity: The Edgard & Cooper Foundation works to tackle the root causes of animal suffering, focusing on the internationally recognised Five Freedoms (ensuring animals have freedom from hunger, discomfort, pain, fear, and the ability to express natural behaviours).

Why This Matters to Me

As a dog mom to four rescue dogs, a volunteer at a rescue organisation, and a trainer specialising in rescue dogs (I work with a lot of Arabian Village Dogs | our lovely free-roaming dogs from Oman) and bully breeds (who are unfortunately way too often found in shelters due to no fault of their own!), I know firsthand how important it is to support companies that give back. Edgard & Cooper’s dedication to helping rescue animals makes me feel good about choosing their food—not just for my own dogs, but for the impact they’re making globally.

💚 High-quality food + a mission that truly makes a difference? That’s something I can get behind!

3 What We Tested & Dog Mum | Dog Trainer Impressions

Let’s dive a bit deeper in:

  • Transparent list of ingredients

  • No artificial nasties or cheap filler ingredients

Edgard & Cooper Wet Dog Food Review

Edgard and Cooper offer a wide range of wet food options for dogs – from 400g tins to 150g cups. We tested both (the ones pictured below, you can find their full dog wet food range here).

Before we get into the nitty gritty details, all of the wet food cans and tins passed the Bosch Pups taste test! They actually loved it! And me, dog mum and dog trainer, was also pleased. The food looked good, smelled good and even in the lamb recipe wasn’t too much visible fat stuck to the tin (which is very typical in lots of brands due to the nature of the meat).

Edgard & Cooper’s recipes contain high quality, fresh meat with essential proteins. The tins contained proper pieces of meat and veggies that could be ‘identified’ and did not look like ‘mashed up, soaked in gravy’ canned dog food (as unfortunately so many other canned dog foods do). So, big plus from my side. The cups had a slightly different consistency, which was more like a pate and is very convenient to spread on lick mats and | or use within enrichment toys.

Let’s take a closer look, first at the 400g Tins, then the 150g cups.

The Game & Duck for Adult Dogs was our absolute favourite. It looked really good, the dogs loved it and the first three ingredients (the main ingredients) are Game 35%, Duck 25%, and Sweet Potato 2%. It contains 106 kcal / 100 g and you can find a feeding calculator on their webpage too. It also has a 4.8 rating (600 reviews) on Trustpilot. The Lamb & Beef for Adult Dogs has as well a 4.8 Trustpilot rating (675 reviews) and the main ingredients are Lamb 30%, Beef 30% and Carrot 2%. As mentioned before, it looked really good too and my dogs really enjoyed both tins.

Let’s take a quick look at the 150 cups (also available in 300g). Their consistency is more pate like, ie less ‘bits and pieces’ and more smooth. My dogs loved it and I very easy to spread onto lick mats etc. The Chicken & Turkey for Adult Dogs is packed with nutritious ingredients: Chicken 30%, Turkey 26%, Minerals, Carrots 2%, Cranberries 1%, Tomatoes 1%, Pumpkin 1%, Apples 1%, Parsley 0.1%, Dill 0.1% – quite a mix and amount that aren’t that often found in ‘wet foods’. With 84.5 kcal / 100 g it has a lower kcal count – if you are looking for options that are less ‘dense’. With a 4.8 rating on Trustpilot (602 reviews) it’s a very popular choice too.

The Organic Fish for Adult Dogs is made with 100% certified organic ingredients – which I love and gets a big thumbs up from me. Whilst it’s called ‘fish’ it doesn’t fully consist of fish (which is actually often the case that you don’t find only the main protein included). But it does contain of organic other meat bits – which is quite rare. Here’s the ingredients list. The ones with the * have been produced from 100% controlled organic farming (according to their webpage) and the main ingredients are: organic Beef*, organic Chicken*, organic Fish* and make up 14%. Other ingredients are organic pork*, minerals, organic carrots* 2%, organic peas* 2%, organic fennel* 0.1%, organic rosehip* 0.1%, organic chamomile* 0.1% So for those of you who like to shop organic, this is a great option. It also has a 4.8 rating (300 reviews).

The Chicken & Salmon for Senior Dogs consists of 42% Chicken, 14% Salmon , Minerals, 2% Peas, 1% Sweet Potato , 1% Pumpkin, 1% Broccoli, 1% Cranberries 1%, 0.1% Parsley 0.1% and 0.1% Dill. It also has a 4.8 rating (350 reviews) and my senior dog Rambo LOVED it! The youngsters tried it too and labelled it ‘yummy’ as well.

Edgard & Cooper Dry Dog Food Review

As mentioned above, Edgard & Cooper offer a wide range of options. We tried the Fresh Venison & Free-Run Duck for Adult Dogs and the Fresh Free-Run Chicken & Norwegian Salmon for Senior Dogs (especially for Rambo, my 12 year old Staffy x!). Both have a 4.8 Trustpilot rating (Adult Dog Venison & Duck 1452 reviews | Chicken and Salmon Senior Dog Food 1250 reviews).

Both do come in different sized kibble options (see Edgard & Cooper pic for more details) to suit dogs of different sizes and your dog’s chewing habits. You will only be able to get the large sized kibble in the 12kg bags (which makes sense if you have a big dog or like me several big dogs). The regular kibble comes in 700g, 1kg, 2.5kg and 7kg bags.

The Fresh Venison & Free-Run Duck contains 25% Duck and 5% Venison and the Chicken & Norwegian Salmon contains of 35% fresh Chicken 35% and 5% fresh Salmon. Both packages were super easy to open and to store – due to the smaller sizes of the bags (for bigger bag sizes we use these storage containers – easily fits 10kg bags and I recommend to store kibble within the bag, not pouring it into the storage container). The bags are made with easy to recycle paper (which I love) and have an inside layer of bioplastic (made from potatoes and you can read more about this here). The insider layer is needed as it keeps the kibble fresh (another reason why I recommend to keep it stored in the bags). Ths packaging is easy to recycle though and not made from common plastic, which is most often the case with other brands.

The regular kibble was a good size for my dogs (Panda weighs around 24kg and is my smallest, A is the heaviest with 38kg) and it didn’t smell, looked fresh and wasn’t as ‘greasy’ as some other brands’ kibble sometimes is. This means for us it’s also a great option to take on walks and use as rewards without having greasy, smelly kibble fingers (I hate that haha, iykyk).

The dogs loved both kibble flavours and the transition to the Edgard & Cooper food was super easy – without any tummy upset or runny stool.

Edgard & Cooper Dog Treats and Doggy Dental Sticks

Let’s talk treatos! I’ll split this into categories:

Bravo Dog Biscuits

First up Bravo Biscuits. We tried the Banana and Peanut Butter ones, they also come in the following flavours: Chicken, Chicken & Turkey, Salmon & Chicken and Apple & Blueberry. The Bravo Biscuits Banana and Peanut Butter contain of 38.1% Oat, 34.4% Millet, 10% dried Banana (dried) 10%, and 1% Peanut Butter (you can find the full ingredients list here). The treats are ‘dry’ treats – like proper biscuits and are relatively big. They. can easily be broken into two (or even smaller pieces). Panda and Ace LOVED them – Rambo and Chalkie weren’t keen at all. The boys are generally not too keen on Banana and Peanut Butter biscuits though – only if I bake them. With a 4.8 Trustpilot rating (158 reviews) they seem to be a popular choice loved by many others too (as they are by Panda and Ace baby).

Strips

Next up, Strips. Can we also please quickly admire the incredibly cute packaging of these? I don’t know about you but pretty, more eco-friendly packaging gets a bonus point from me and makes me happy. And it even states the carbon footprint for this product!

Right, now on to the taste testing. We tried the Strips – Lamb and Turkey and Strips – Turkey and Chicken for all ages. The Strips come in additional flavours and are relatively big but can easily be broken down into smaller pieces!

The Turkey and Chicken contains 58% of Chicken and 12% of Turkey – amounts of meats that are really nice to see in manufactured treats (if you feed natural chews, ie a goat ear you’ll have a higher content obvs but lots of manufactured treats would have way less). With a 4.9 rating on Trustpilot these seem to be a crowd pleaser and were also loved by all 4 of my dogs. The Lamb and Turkey contain 58% Turkey 58% and 12% Lamb. They have a 4.5 rating – a recent review said that the new recipe wasn’t great (and it seems to have been left by a doodle owner, poodles and poodle mixes can be quite fussy). We only know this recipe, my dogs loved it and also have no food allergies, so were happy with it!

Dog Mum Verdict: The treats have a really nice consistency and were a high reward option for us when out and about. I must say though that the strips generally had a quite intense smell – which didn’t make them any less enticing to my dogs and was great for ‘find it’ games in long grass and the forest. This might be something to keep in mind though when you take them out and about where you cannot wash your hands and are easily grossed out by smelling doggy stuff.

Bites

The Bites are meaty, soft treato bites and they come in quite wide variety of flavours and come in small (12mm) and large (28mm) bites and 50 or 120g bags. Great if you have a smaller dog who doesn’t eat as many treats and you only want to carry around a smaller bag (or the bigger bags for people like me who carry around quite a lot of treatos on a daily basis).

We tried the Bites in Chicken and Lamb and Turkey (for all ages). They are grain free, low calories and oh boy did my dogs LOVE them! They were paws down the most loved bits ever! And pleased me, dog mum and dog trainer. Easy to use, no smell, good to touch and carry around and high reward. What’s not to love. The chicken ones contain 45% of fresh chicken and the Lamb and Turkey ones contain 33% of turkey 33% and 12% of lamb.

Keep it Up Bars

Keep it up bars was kinda a new concept for me, so it might also be to you. It kinda is like a doggy version of a protein bar or one of the snacks you take with you when out and about or have between meals. We aren’t doing any dog sports or really intense labour (no working dogs) but Panda and I love to go on really long walks (up to 10km) and take Chalkie with us on the shorter ones. We took the bars with us on some of these and Panda enjoyed them whilst I had a coffee and cake. We also tried them at home as a simple snack in-between and what shall I say. Here’s an overview:

All 4 dogs LOVED them! The bars are quite ‘dense’ and a bit harder (less soft than the meaty bites and the strips) but can be broken down in to smaller pieces too. I wasn’t surprised that the dogs loved the meaty ones but even the plant-based Apple and Blueberry one was a big hit and kept Panda away from my cake!

Doggy Dental Sticks

The Edgard & Cooper Doggy Dental Sticks come in three different sizes (small, medium and large) as well as two different plant-based flavours: Dental Apple & Eucalyptus and Dental Mint & Strawberry (both rated at 4.7). They were non-smelling, looked appealing and the Wadis loved them. My Bully Boys never eat dental sticks – and also didn’t want to give these ones a try. Panda stole the package with the last stick though, so what can I say: it’s a massive paws up from my Wadi Dogs (Arabian Village Dogs) haha.

They claim to be “extra long chew time” and are suitable for dogs aged 4 months and above. Dental sticks in our households are never long lasting and are kind of a quick snack for mine. I don’t consider dental sticks to be a long lasting chew though but if this is something you are looking for, then this might not be holding up for your dog. It might though if you have a smaller dog or isn’t an intense chewer.

4 My Dogs’ Reactions & Taste Test

5 Is Edgard & Cooper Really Healthy? Nutrition & Ingredients Breakdown

One of the biggest questions when choosing a dog food is: is it actually good for my dog?

Edgard & Cooper promises to use fresh, natural ingredients with no artificial additives or processed meat meals—but does it deliver on that promise? I took a deep dive into the ingredients and nutrition of the products we tested, comparing them to industry standards and other premium dog foods.

What’s Inside? Breaking Down Key Ingredients

We tested a variety of wet foods, dry foods, and treats, and I was pleasantly surprised by the ingredient quality across the board.

Real, Fresh Meat – Every product we tested lists fresh meat or fish as the first ingredient, which is a great sign. Unlike many supermarket brands, they don’t rely on processed meat meals.

Nutritious Vegetables & Fruits – Their recipes include carrots, apples, blueberries, and sweet potatoes, providing natural fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants.

Healthy Grains & Grain-Free Options – Some formulas contain brown rice or organic whole grains like millet and oats, while others are grain-free for dogs with sensitivities.

Added Nutrients for Seniors – Their senior food includes glucosamine and omega-3s to support joint health and cognitive function, which is perfect for older dogs like my 12-year-old Staffy mix, Rambo.

Protein & Fat Content: Is It Balanced?

To determine if a food is nutritionally balanced, I looked at the protein and fat levels in the products we tested.

For Adult Dogs:

  • Wet food typically has 8-12% protein and 4-7% fat, which is in the ideal range for maintaining healthy muscles.
  • Dry food varies: their Fresh Meat Kibble contains 22-30% protein, while the Organic Kibble formula contains different protein sources like rice protein and has a more moderate protein percentage.

For Senior Dogs:

  • Their senior kibble (Fresh Chicken & Salmon) contains 22% protein and 10% fat, slightly lower in fat to help with weight management while still providing enough protein for muscle maintenance.
  • Their senior wet food (Chicken & Salmon) includes added omega-3s and joint-supporting nutrients, making it a great choice for older dogs.

📊 Ingredient & Nutrition Comparison

Here’s a quick look at some of the products we tested and how they compare in terms of ingredients, protein, and fat content.

Key Differences Between Fresh Meat Kibble & Organic Kibble:

  • Fresh Meat Kibble (e.g., Venison & Duck) has a higher protein content (25%+), primarily from fresh meats.
  • Organic Kibble (e.g., Organic Chicken & Turkey) contains whole grains like millet and oats and includes rice protein, making it less meat-heavy than the fresh meat range.
  • Organic formulas focus on eco-friendly sourcing and plant-based nutrients.

🐕 My Verdict: A Nutritionally Solid Choice

Overall, I’m really impressed with Edgard & Cooper’s commitment to fresh ingredients and balanced nutrition.

Their wet food is a standout – it’s high in fresh meat, has an excellent rating on All About Dog Food (90% AADF Rating for the Senior Food cans!), and includes added nutrients for health benefits.
Their dry food is solid, especially the Senior Dog formula, though it has a slightly lower food rating compared to the wet food (AADF Rating of 67% for the Adult Kibble, which is a decent score for Kibble and the Senior Kibble has an AADF Rating of 72%!). I personally like to feed Venison and my dogs loved the venison dry food.
The treats are a hit! My dogs especially loved the Strips, Bites, and Keep It Up Bars, which are high in protein and free from artificial additives.
Great for senior dogs – I love that their senior formulas include joint support, which is crucial for older pups like Rambo and has really good ratings.

8 Final Verdict: Is Edgard & Cooper Dog Food Worth It?

After testing the Edgard & Cooper range with my dogs, I can confidently say: they loved it all! 🎉

I was especially impressed with their wet food range (both canned and pâté)—not only did my dogs enjoy every bite, but it also has an excellent food rating on All About Dog Food, which speaks to its quality.

🐾 Favourite Picks:

Wet Food (Canned & Pâté) – High-quality ingredients, great ratings, and dog-approved!
Strips & Bites (Treatos) – A huge hit with all my dogs!
Keep It Up Bars – Another all-around favourite!
Dry Food – A good option with venison, which I appreciate, but it has a slightly lower food rating (as expected).

🐕 Mixed Reactions:

Dental Sticks – Loved by my wadis, but my bullies weren’t too keen.
Biscuits – Panda & Big A enjoyed them, but Rambo & Chalkie weren’t fans (they generally prefer homemade peanut butter biscuits).
The Stripes had quite a strong smell, but that didn’t stop the dogs from enjoying them!

Would I Buy It Again?

Absolutely! Edgard & Cooper’s commitment to natural ingredients, sustainability, and high-quality nutrition really stands out. While my dogs have their individual preferences, I’d definitely keep their wet food, treats, and Keep It Up Bars as regular staples in our routine.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely! If you’re looking for a natural, high-quality dog food with a strong ethical mission, Edgard & Cooper is a great choice.

Great for:

  • Picky eaters
  • Owners who want natural, healthy dog food and are not keen on freshly cooked or raw
  • Those who care about sustainability and rescue dogs
  • If you love cute designs and your dogs love yummy treats (seriously, the bites are such a well-loved reward for my lot)
