By giving your new dog a quiet, comfortable space of their own, they can feel safe and secure and withdraw to whenever they want. This could be a crate, a designated room, or a cozy bed. If you have children make sure they are aware of this rule and that the dog is not to be disturbed during this ‘time out’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Allow your dog time and space to explore their new environment at their own pace. Don’t overwhelm them with too much attention or stimulation at first, and let them come to you on their own terms. <\/strong>I know how hard this can be when you are ready to love them hard and waited for them to come to yours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Remember that your dog may be experiencing stress and anxiety, and it may take some time for them to fully trust and bond with you.
